BASELINE STRENGTH TRAINING

Baseline strength is a full-body training routine focused on the foundations of a healthy and strong body.

Baseline Strength Training is the core curriculum within the Wellness Skills Academy’s physical fitness division.

Training focuses on restoring physical fitness, building a positive relationship with exercise, and creating a sustainable active lifestyle. The goal is to exercise happier, not harder!

All athletic sports and training, recreational sports, and physical activities have their foundation in the various components of baseline strength training.

Baseline Strength Training Components:

Cardiorespiratory endurance

Muscular strength

Muscular endurance

Flexibility

Posture

Mobility and stability

Core fitness

Balance

At some point in most people’s lives, one or more of these components will fall below baseline. The Baseline Strength Training Program will restore all areas to adequate levels, and provide you with the skills to maintain all fitness components at and above baseline levels.

This program is for those who acknowledge the importance of physical fitness as part of normal daily life, and are willing to take responsibility for their own training.

4 HEALTH COMPONENTS

Flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, and muscular endurance constitute what is commonly referred to as the 4 health components. Adequate fitness in the 4 health components is necessary to perform the basic activities of daily living. For individuals that are concerned with their well-being, and living a physical existence to their full capacity, it is essential that fitness in the 4 health components is practiced and maintained on a regular basis.

Flexibility – the ability to move joints and muscle groups through their normal full range of motion

Cardiorespiratory endurance - the maximal capacity for the heart, blood vessels, and lungs to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles at work, in order for energy to be produced

Muscular strength - the maximum force that a muscle or muscle group can exert during a contraction

Muscular endurance - the muscle or muscle groups ability to exert force against a resistance over a sustained period of time
